Georgia's Governor's Mansion

The Governor's mansion in Buckhead, is home to the 82nd governor of Georgia, Nathan Deal and his wife Sandra Deal. We actually had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Deal which was a true pleasure. She chatted with us for about 15 minutes, and was truly a genuine person.
The Mansion, a three floor, 30-room, Greek Revival style home built in 1967, stands on approximately 18 acres in northeast Atlanta. It was designed by Georgia architect Thomas Bradbury and officially opened on January 1, 1968. The house had beautiful furniture and  amazing decor that just kept you looking!  An interesting fact that we learned was that the columns you see at the front of the house are actually hollow. They are hollow for a reason: to drain the water from when it rains, so the mansion doesn't have a gutter system. We look forward to going back in December to see their house decorated for the holiday season. I have never actually toured the Governor's mansion in Austin, Texas, but it has some shoes to fill after seeing this gorgeous house with amazing grounds.
